Tiffany Douglas

Oakey’s 2015-2016 Hospice Caregiver of the Year

Wednesday evening, June 14, the Oakey’s Hospice Caregiver of the the Year Award was given to Tiffany Douglas of Carilion Hospice.

Tiffany has been with Carilion Hospice for two years and says that becoming a hospice caregiver was definitely a calling. She was nominated for this award by one of her patients and she was awarded the Caregiver of the Month award for the month of January 2016.

Following is a comment taken from Tiffany’s nomination form:
We cannot tell you how appreciative we are of how professional and kind, attentive and all else Tiffany is. Her main goal and objective is to keep my wife comfortable and as pain free as possible. Tiffany does this in a very complete way — Tiffany is always on time for her appointments, keeps the medicine 100% up-to-date. She has such a sweet spirit and attitude toward my wife (and me).

Tiffany never fails to lift my wife’s spirits and make her feel better, just by being here and encouraging her. I thank Oakey’s for doing this program and for giving me the opportunity to recognize Tiffany Douglas for this award.
The awards ceremony took place at Oakey’s Cremation Tribute Center where recipients of the monthly caregiver awards were present.

Thank you to Tiffany for all your hard work and dedication and for all you do for the community and thank you to all the hospice caregivers who give so much of themselves to others when they need it most.

As stated on the National Hospice and Palliative Care Website, Hospice provides compassionate care for people facing a life-limiting illness or injury, hospice care involves a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to the patient’s needs and wishes. Support is provided to the patient’s loved ones as well. At the center of hospice and palliative care is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free and with dignity, and that our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.
