Abdul Massih Melki, born January 7, 1926 and first child of Youssif & Mariam (Ibrahim) Melki, passed from this life to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, March 17, 2014. Affectionately known as "GEDO", he is survived by his one and only loving wife of 64yrs, Lily K. Melki; five children and spouses: Marie(Melki) & Normand McLaughlin of Crimora, Joseph & Joyce (Cadd) Melki of Roanoke, Mona Banik of Maryland, Pauline Labaye of San Diego, Paul (deceased) & Leila Melki of Roanoke, eleven grandchildren and spouses, Jeremy, Joshua (Nicole), Jason, Rick (Nichole),Christina (Luke), Stephen and Stephanie, Nathan, Matthew, David and Julia; nine great-grandchildren, Mia, Katelyn, Lily, Ruthie, Tanner, Braedon, AlIie, Ava & Blayne. Abdul had seven brothers, Melki, Ibrahim, Aziz, Elias, George, Michel & Pierre; two sisters, Sayde & Ellen; many nieces & nephews and a host of beloved extended family. Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, Abdul worked as a Master-Tailor at Davidson’s Clothing in downtown Roanoke for over 20 years. Abdul was an active and strong Christian believer of the St. Philoxenus Church. Abdul was extremely dedicated to his family. Most of all, he was passionate about his wife, family, faith, friends and loved his community. The Family will receive visitors, from 5-8pm On Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Oakey's South Chapel. The church service will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11 am at St. Philoxenus Church (1212 Lee Highway South-Roanoke, Virginia) with Father Andrew officiating. A Graveside service will follow at Evergreen Burial Park and conclude with a Mercy Meal at St. Philoxenus Church. Donations are appreciated to St. Philoxenus Church.
