Raymond (Ray) Q. Adams, 91, of Roanoke, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a beloved husband and father. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WW II where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mabel Adams; brother, Wilson D. Adams. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Frances Overstreet Adams; children, Richard Adams and wife, Naomi, Bill Adams and wife, Barbara, Betty Dooley and husband, Lee; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Herbert Overstreet and wife, Jeri; special friends, Edith Garst, Vince and Glennis Helmintoller. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Oakey’s North Chapel with Dr. Bryan Smith officiating. The interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Oakey’s North Chapel.
