Janet M. Bond, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012. She was born in Roanoke on September 9, 1941 and was a lifelong resident in the Roanoke Valley. Janet was a wonderful wife to Frank and a loving mother to two fine sons, Brian and Bradley. She was a person who wanted to help everyone and had many friends. Her smile through all her health problems was soothing to anyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; two sons, Brian and his wife, Laura and a beautiful grandson, Logan, and Bradley Bond. These two young men were her pride and joy. Also surviving is her only sister, Juanita Tester who was always nearby to support and be a companion to Janet.
She will leave a soft place in the heart of her family but we know she will be looking out of the windows of heaven and smiling on the actions of her beloved family.
Janet was a simple person who can be remembered as follows, “She lived in a house by the side of the road and was a friend to all.”
Funeral services will be held noon on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Oakey’s North Chapel, with Pastor Bart Smith officiating. The entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Oakey’s North Chapel.
